“Modi is not our enemy”- Uddhav Thackeray

Maharashtra: Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray had clarified his statement which he had given for Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi for saving 15000 Gujarat natives from Uttarakhand. Few days before Thackeray had commented on Modi for saving only Gujarat native. Now Uddhav Thackeray had given his clarification that appears in party’s mouthpiece Saamna.

Thackeray said, “I have not attacked Narendra Modi. But, now he has been given a new role on the national stage. We have some expectations from him.” Thackeray reiterated that Modi was a national leader and they have nothing against him. “He is not our enemy.”

Thackeray also attempted to lay the blame at the door of journalists who read too much into the editorial, the real reason for his new views on the Gujarat Chief Minister may lie in a phone call that he reportedly received from BJP party chief Rajnath Singh.

The bristling state unit of the BJP had also apprised the party chief that they were willing to break off the alliance with the Shiv Sena for “taking them for granted” and would also call off talks with the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS), with whom they are still trying to stitch together an alliance.

Rajnath Singh is putting his foot down on sanctimonious editorials on the Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi. Due to Thackeray’s repeated criticism of Modi may have been motivated by BJP’s overtures towards Maharashtra Navnirman Sena(MNS). It is now indicating that the Saamna won’t have anything critical to say about him any time soon.
