Patna: After withdraw of alliance of JD-U from BJP, there is an indication of equation change in the major political parties. Chief Minister of Bihar Nitish Kumar had thanked to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh for calling him ‘secular’. Nitish Kumar gave a positive response to the compliment of Singh and said, “The Prime Minister has said and I am (secular), his statement has given me peace.” Weather there is a ray of hope shining that JD-U might alliance with congress, Bihar CM denied any such move and stressed that JD-U ended the alliance with the BJP owing to its principles.
On future ties with BJP, Nitish Kumar said, “Personally I will try to keep up relations that have been there for a number of years, political statements will get political replies.”
Manmohan Singh said yesterday that, “I cannot speculate on that or what happens in the future. We need support of all right-minded parties. In parliament, we look for their support.” Singh said when asked whether Congress would seek JD-U’s support, he said, “In politics there are no permanent friends or enemies. We will decide as situation evolves.”
The PM had yesterday said that the Bihar Chief Minister was ‘secular’ and that the Congress party always sought support from ‘right-minded’ people.
The JD-U split from the BJP on Sunday, its ally of seventeen years, over the elevation of Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi as his party’s poll panel chief for 2014 General Elections.
