Our first priority to take decision on alliance- Rajeev Ranjan

New Delhi: JD-U spokesperson Rajeev Ranjan had given a statement which start a new sensation of Indian politics and give an indication that JD-U is very close to quitting National Democratic Alliance. This problem of chance of withdraw of JD-D has arises after BJP had taken a decision of elevation of Chief Minister of Gujarat, Narendra Modi. Last Sunday party has announced Modi as a chief of election campaign for 2014 election and most eligible candidate for PM in Goa. On this decision of BJP, Nitish Kumar’s party has hinted that it may withdraw the alliance with BJP and forge an alliance with the Congress if the state is granted backward status.

He said, “In politics, all possibilities are open. Right now we are a part of the NDA and our first priority is to take a decision on this alliance.”

The remarks came even as there was talk of a ‘federal front’ involving Mamata Banerjee’s Trinamool Congress, Nitish Kumar’s JD-U and Naveen Patnaik’s BJD. West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee yesterday rang up her Bihar and Odisha counterparts to discuss the same.

Meanwhile after taking his resignation from BJP President Rajnath Singh, BJP leader LK Advani spoke to JD-U leaders Nitish Kumar and Sharad Yadav in a bid to convince them not to end the alliance with the BJP. The Bihar leaders are reported to have told Advani that they are ready to sit in the opposition. Sources said that only a formal announcement is to be made by JD-U for snapping ties with the BJP.

Sources also exclaim that a number of party leaders, including ministers, held discussions with Nitish Kumar at his official residence by Tuesday night. It was decided to formally announce the end of ties with the BJP in next two to three days.

There is also a chance for JD-U president Sharad Yadav to arrive in Patna by Thursday or Friday for consultations with party leaders before a formal decision is made public.

Agriculture Minister of Bihar Narendra Singh categorically said that Modi was not acceptable to his party as candidate for PM of NDA. Singh said, “We are against being part of the NDA under his leadership.”
