New Delhi: The state unit of Bharatiya Janata Party had appointed leaders of different factions in its election committee and core group in its attempt to end resentment against Delhi BJP president Vijay Goel on Sunday.
The detractors of Vijay Goel had vowed that his wings would be clipped, supporters of Goel claimed that he would have the final say in decision-making. The election committee comprises 17 members and seven special invitees included V.K. Malhotra, O.P. Kohli, Mangeram Garg, Harshvardhan, Vijendra Gupta, Jagdish Mukhi, Ramesh Bidhuri, R.P. Singh and Pravesh Verma.
However the election core group comprises 54 members including prominent leaders like Madan Lal Khurana, Vijay Jolly, Vani Tripathi, Arti Mehra, and Meenakshi Lekhi.
Nitin Gadkari, the party’s Delhi in-charge for polls, had held talks with senior BJP leaders L.K. Advani, Sushma Swaraj, Arun Jaitley and party chief Rajnath Singh before the formation of teams.
Gadkari has issued a statement by saying, “I call upon the party workers in Delhi to work collectively and launch an aggressive campaign against the Congress rule to expose its failure on all fronts.”
Gadkari also said that the party is under the leadership of Goel and was working relentlessly to overthrow the Congress government in Delhi.
It also seems that there is some internal problem in State BJP leaders. Some senior Delhi BJP leaders had problems with Goel and they alleged that Goel was acting alone and not taking the party along.
