Lucknow: Allahbad high court had issued notices to state and central governments on the PIL which had challenge the suspension of Sub Divisional Magistrate of Greater Noida Durga Shakti Nagpal. The Lucknow bench of Allahbad high court will look up and hear the case on August 19.
As the UP government placed the SDM under suspension last week on the complaint that she had ordered the demolition of a wall of a mosque in a village in Noida.
The UP Govt. had also justified its action and said that her action was fraught with serious law and order problem.
Nagpal is IAS officer of 2009 batch and get the suspension on July 27. Nagpal have come to limelight over her crackdown on the sand mining mafia, which ran rampant along the Yamuna and Hindon rivers in western Uttar Pradesh.
Reports claimed that Nagpal had seized nearly 300 trolleys of sand being illegally mined from the Yamuna river bed.
The Uttar Pradesh government called Nagpal’s suspension an ‘administrative decision’, but opposition parties alleged that it was done as a result of pressure from the mining mafia.
The state government’s stand that Nagpal was suspended over her decision to raze an illegal boundary wall of a mosque has also come under a cloud, after the district magistrate sent a report to the government denying this.
The report said Durga Shakti did not make any such order and that the villagers, on being told that this was illegal construction, brought down the wall themselves.
