New Delhi: Sheila Dikshit, Chief Minister of Delhi had asked power distribution companies to improve their performance immediately. Sheila Dikshit is unhappy over the long power cuts in several areas of Delhi.
CM said in a meeting with representatives of BSES discoms that the power distribution companies must ensure round-the-clock supply of power so that consumers do not face any inconvenience.
Sheila Dikshit also talked about reform in the power sector. Dikshit said that the supply position has improved and transmission losses have been brought down substantially.
She said, “The city government has been encouraging conservation of power by providing subsidy on limiting consumption of power up to 400 units per month.”
Last month, the government had clearly told the discoms that the government would not hesitate to take punishable action if the companies fail to improve the supply.
The BSES discoms supply power in 70 per cent areas of the city while Tata Power Delhi Distribution Ltd (TPDDL) distributes power in around 25 per cent areas, while New Delhi Municipal Corporation supplies power in Lutyens Bungalow Zone.
Government was particularly unhappy about long power cuts in areas where electricity is supplied by BSES Yamuna Power Ltd and BSES Rajdhani Power Ltd.
