Kolkata: Varun Gandhi, the general secretary of Bharatiya Janata Party urged to Bengal Chief Minister and TMC chief Mamata Banerjee to “shun her arrogance” and remind to Bangal CM that it was the BJP which had support her when she had plunged into a crisis after the 1999 Lok Sabha polls.
Varun Gandhi is on a 2 days visit of the Bengal vowed to take the revenge for the suffering and harassment of the party workers by ruling party Trinamool Congress.
Varun, while reffering to the hinders of Mamata in Rail Bhawan in NDA government after Atal Bihari Vajpayee was sworn in as Prime Minister for the second time in October 1999, said, “She should not forget that when Congress expelled her from the party, there was no one to stand by her side. It was Vajpayeeji and Advaniji who made her Union minister and gave her an important portfolio.”
“She should not forget that BJP has brought her back from political oblivion,” he said. Elaborating further, Varun said, “It was not long ago that she was a lone MP. It didn’t stop her from throwing her (resignation) papers at Speaker Somnath Chatterjee. It was BJP which ensured that her MP status was not cancelled.”
Varun said, “The more you harass our party workers and torture them physically and mentally, remember that when we form the next central government after six months we will take revenge for the suffering of each BJP worker.”
Varun Gandhi also told party workers, “The next Parliamentary elections are not about you and me. It is an election where the pride and respect of the nation is at stake. We have to promise one thing that we will not allow the country to go into wrong hands. We have to save the honour and pride of our nation.”
