AHMEDABAD: Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi, who is all set to become BJP’s prime ministerial candidate, will attend the party’s crucial parliamentary board meeting in New Delhi.
Sources in the Gujarat chief minister’s office in Gandhinagar said he is coming to New Delhi, PTI reported.
BJP president Rajnath Singh has called a meeting of the party’s parliamentary board on Friday to take a decision on declaring Modi as the PM candidate even as veteran L K Advani and other senior leaders continue to have reservations over the issue.
The meeting is expected to take place this evening.
A top Shiv Sena functionary has also indicated that Narendra Modi’s name has been finalised as the BJP’s prime ministerial candidate ahead of the 2014 general elections.
“BJP chief Rajnath Singh spoke to Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray this afternoon and has conveyed the decision in the matter,” a top party officials told IANS.
Rajnath Singh also sought the support of Uddhav Thackeray and the Shiv Sena for Modi for the top position, the official, requesting anonymity, said.
