New Delhi: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Monday met the Election Commission (EC) to complain against the “hate and sensational speeches” being delivered by Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi. The party complained that Rahul had accused the party of stoking communal riots in Muzaffarnagar while addressing election rallies. BJP vice president Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi said that Rahul should have been more responsible while making comments on BJP. “Rahul Gandhi is not a Digvijaya, he is the Congress party’s superstar campaigner,” Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi said. The BJP complained that Rahul had accused the party of stoking communal riots in Muzaffarnagar while addressing election rallies. He alleged that Rahul had made sensational speeches to spread communal hatred in society. The delegation including party leaders Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi, Prakash javadekar and Nirmala Seetharaman among others gave a six-page written complaint to all the three members of the Election Commission.
The leaders in the complaint have demanded action against Rahul for the election speeches that he made in Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh, despite the model code of conduct for elections being enforced in the states on October 4. The party complained that Rahul had accused the party of stoking communal riots in Muzaffarnagar while addressing election rallies. The party had on Friday written a letter to the EC saying Rahul Gandhi had violated the model code of conduct ahead of assembly polls and had sought a meeting with them. The party leaders also demanded foolproof security for its prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi’s election rallies in view of the upcoming assembly and general polls after serial blasts rocked Patna near his rally on Sunday.
