Ranchi: Rain played spoilsport as the fourth one-day international between India and Australia was called off on Wednesday, with the visitors still leading the seven-match series 2-1. Riding on quick-fire half-centuries by captain George Bailey (98) and Glenn Maxwell (92), Australia once again posted a good total (295 for 8) in 50 over’s.
India reached 27 for 0 in 4.1 over’s when rain stopped play. With persistent rain lashing down in Ranchi, there was no possibility of any further play and umpires decided to abandon the game after an inspection at 8.35 p.m…The match was stopped at 6.18 pm because of light drizzle which later intensified to frustrate both the teams. There was some hope in the middle as the rain had stopped after one hour and the grounds men and super soppers were pressed into action.
