SC appoints panel to probe IPL; allows Sri to take charge of BCCI

20120927_KP_BCCI_006 --621x414New Delhi: Supreme Court on Tuesday allowed N Srinivasan to take charge as the president of BCCI on the condition that he stays away from any IPL matter.It also set up a fresh 3-member probe panel to enquire into the IPL spot-fixing scandal. The panel will be headed by former Chief Justice of Punjab and Haryana High Court Mukul Mudgal.

The committee will investigate G Meiyappan and owners of Rajasthan Royals and file report on erring IPL franchisees. Earlier, Srinivasan was elected unopposed as BCCI President for a third year during the Board`s AGM last month. Srinivasan was the lone Presidential candidate put forward by the South Zone, from where he got the proposer and the seconded. The AGM asserted Srinivasan`s supremacy in India`s richest sporting body with not even a single voice of dissent being heard during the proceedings of the day.
