Bangalore: After the rape case involving former party MLA Haratalu Halappa (Now in the KJP) and the porn film scandal in which its legislators allegedly watched a porn film at Vidhana Soudha, the BJP now faces another embarrassment. This time, a complaint of rape and kidnap has been filed by NR Pura police in Chikmagalur district against former Food and Civil Supplies minister D.N. Jeevaraj who has also served as party chief whip when the BJP was in power.
The alleged incident happened in 2010 but the victim has filed the complaint against the former minister only now. Soon after she filed the complaint, Jeevaraj denied the charges and alleged that a former BJP worker of NR Pura has filed a false case through his relative. On August 20, 2013, I had filed a case against former BJP worker Manu (relative of the alleged rape victim) at Vidhana Soudha police station, complaining of blackmail. In retaliation, he and his relative have filed a false case against me,” Jeevaraj told Deccan Chronicle.
“I have filed a complaint against Manu with documents saying he had demanded money from me. He is a former BJP worker who is involved in encroachment of forest land,” Jeevaraj claimed. Two more complaints have been filed against the so called victim in NR Pura police station alleging blackmail for money. Taluk Panchayat member Nagaraj and Town Panchayat member Ashish have filed the complaint against her,” Jeevaraj said. He said he had also obtained a court injunction to stop the media— both print and electronic— from carrying news reports pertaining to the episode.
