New Delhi: The EC rejected Aam Aadmi Party convener Arvind Kejriwal’s claims that the party has been given a clean chit in the sting operation. According to the sting operation by Media Sarkar, AAP leaders were allegedly shown accepting funds illegally.
Election Commissioner HS Brahma said the commission has not verified the veracity of the tape and unless the party challenges it legally no clean chit can be given to the AAP. The party had claimed that the Election Commission had pronounced the CD of the sting operation doctored.
Kejriwal said to channel, AAP was now like other political parties even through a sting operation had claimed that its leaders were taking funds illegally. Kejriwal claimed that the EC had given the party a clean chit. “The Election Commission has given a clean chit to AAP over sting operations. The EC even said political parties and media channels should not engage in such conspiracies,” Kejriwal said.
A few days ago, AAP accessed the sting CD raw footage and claimed that it was doctored. AAP member Yogendra Yadav and a team of six volunteers went through the entire footage and concluded that it was a doctored CD. Accusing journalist Anuranjan Jha of Media Sarkar of not being truthful, Yadav had said, “The video shown has been edited and shown in a way to put AAP leaders in poor light. No conclusion can be drawn on the basis of the CD shown.”
