Sonia Gandhi targets State government of Chhattisgarh

Sonia GandhiNew Delhi: Congress chairperson Sonia Gandhi and the PM candidate of BJP Narendra Modi have addressed rallies in Bastar region of Chhattisgarh on Thursday. It is one of the rarest occasion when two national political leaders were face to face in this campaign.

At this occasion, Sonia Gandhi hit out at the BJP leadership for “only talk big things”, while crediting her party with “carrying out the real work” with a focus on “development with pro-poor face”.

The Congress president said it was sad that people of Chattisgarh were forced to migrate to other states for work despite a number of welfare schemes such as MNREGA launched by the UPA.

Sonia Gandhi also accused to BJP for practising “divisive” politics and said, “While the BJP wants to pit one brother against another, we want to take everybody along and connect people”.

UPA Chairperson urged voters of Bastar not to fall in the “trap of false promises by anyone” and vote Congress to power for its “sacrifices and record of contribution towards the country’s development”.
Sonia Gandhi discussed about the rights-based schemes of UPA like Forest Act, Food Security and announced a number of sops including maximum support price (MSP) on forest produces like that on foodgrains to benefit large sections of tribals dependent on them.

Sonia Gandhi also said, “So many people were killed in the Naxal violence. My colleagues in Congress sacrificed their life. We are today feeling their absence in a big way today.”
