Islamabad: A report claimed that Pakistan will urge India to allow United Nations Military Observer Group in India and Pakistan (UNMOGIP) to work freely to ensure an effective ceasefire on both sides of Line of Control (LoC). According to the reports, an official of Pakistan said that India has highly restricted the movement of UN military observers, but they have given unhindered access to the UN miliarty observers on their side of LoC.
Pakistan is seeking a bigger role for United Nations military observers deployed along the LoC as its Directors General of Military Operations (DGMO) meets his Indian counterpart on 24th December. UNMOGIP had been established in 1949 under the resolution passed by the world body’s Security Council to supervise ceasefire along LoC.
