She said, as the University did not have a policy against sexual harassment of women students during internship, it was indicated to me that any action would be ineffective. I was also informed that the only route for me was to file a complaint with the police, who I was reluctant to do.

She said that in order to preserve her dignity and that of the Supreme Court; she authorized additional solicitor general Indira Jaising to make her statement public. At this stage, I believe that anyone claiming that my statements are false is showing disrespect not just to me, but also to the Supreme Court of India. She also said.

On Monday, Justice Ganguly had denied allegations of sexual harassment in a letter to his former colleague and chief justice of India P Sathasivam and said that his side of the story was being denied a fair hearing. In the eight-page letter, Ganguly, however, asserted his moral strength lies undiminished” despite such complaints.

Ganguly’s response comes almost a month after a Supreme Court committee found him guilty of indulging in “unwelcome conduct of sexual nature. The young intern has accused the former judge of sexually harassing her in a five-star hotel in Delhi last December.
