New Delhi: Delhi Congress chief Arvinder Singh Lovely, in a letter to Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Wednesday, asked him to address the issue of power cuts in some parts of the city.
DPCC chief has threatened to go on a city-wide agitation if the AAP government does not take steps to improve power supply to certain parts of the capital.
The supply to slum clusters, unauthorised colonies and minority community settlements had been affected over the last one week. “If this is the situation in winter, then what will happen in peak summer? I request you to look into the issue urgently. People of Delhi have been suffering because of long power cuts. As the head of the government, you must address the issue,” said Arvinder Lovely in his letter.
It also stated that areas in West and Northeast Delhi have been the worst affected.
Leader of Opposition Harsh Vardhan also wrote to Kejriwal demanding immediate steps to control inflation. He said, “Prices of commodities like water, cooking gas and CNG rose soon after formation of the new government.”
Lovely gave the time of 10 days to Delhi’s government of AAP to address the issue, failing which the Congress, which supports the minority government from the outside, would launch an agitation.
Lovely said, “Former MLAs, Congress workers and municipal councillors met me on Wednesday and told me about the situation in various parts of the city. If the situation does not improve in 10 days, we will launch an agitation on the streets of Delhi.”
DPCC chief said, “Making announcements and brave new plans are one thing, but governance cannot suffer for this. The CM must focus on day-to-day affairs of his citizens and the national capital.”
