Happy 48th birthday AR RahmanNew Delhi:  AR Rahman, the Mozart of Madras, turned 48 today. Here’s wishing the Oscar winning musician more and more success. And because it’s 2014, we have picked up the top 14 albums of his, to pay tribute to the musical genius.

A journey soon began which made Rahman’s name the most respected in the music industry in a very limited time. Through films like ‘Bombay’, ‘Taal’ and ‘Lagaan’, AR Rahman began a process which also brought the Indian film music closer to the world music.

It was ‘Slumdog Millionaire’ that changed the entire scenario when AR Rahman established the importance of Indian classical in Hollywood. Rahman joined forces with Rolling Stones legend Mick Jagger on SuperHeavy, a supergroup also featuring Joss Stone, Dave Stewart and Damian Marley.

An Honorary Fellow of the Trinity College of Music, Rahman is a recipient of the Padma Bhushan, and was named as one of the ‘World’s Most Influential People by Time in 2009. Today is his birthday.
