Andhra Pradesh CM Kiran Kumar Reddy may resign

Andhra Pradesh CM Kiran Kumar Reddy may resignHyderabad: Going by the signals that Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy has been sending out, he may in all likelihood put in his papers when President Pranab Mukherjee refers the Bill for creation of Telangana to Parliament on February 10.

The Union Cabinet’s decision to clear the AP Reorganisation Bill with amendments has further steeled Mr. Reddy’s resolve to resign, sources in the State Congress said.

Mr. Reddy indicated he might step down when the issue came up during his discussions with Cabinet colleagues and Seemandhra legislators on Friday. He is expecting the President to refer the Bill to Parliament on February 10.

Our information is that the Bill would be introduced in the Rajya Sabha on February 11 or 12 and in the Lok Sabha on February 17,” a senior Congress leader said.

The sources said the resignation by the Chief Minister may also be a pre-emptive strike as the Congress brass was contemplating disciplinary action against him.
