New Delhi: A Delhi court on Tuesday sentenced to death three convicts for the gangrape and murder of a 19-year-old woman in February 2012.
Last week, a Dwarka Court had convicted Ravi, Rahul and Vinod, all neighbours of the victim, in the rarest of rare case.
Delhi Police had sought maximum punishment for the three convicts saying the ghastly act deserves no leniency. On February 9, 2012, the victim was on her way home from work when she was abducted.
The three convicts, all neighbours of the victim, had confined and brutally raped her for the next three days in Rewari in Haryana. They left her to die after mutilating her body.
The police found her body four days later.
While seeking death for the convicts, the prosecution had highlighted the horrific violence meted out to the victim.
She was beaten, shards of broken glass were found in her private parts. The convicts had poured acid on her face and in her eyes.
The victim’s mother had said Mail Today that no mercy should be show to the killers.
Had they not killed my daughter, I would have still considered them getting a lighter punishment.
But after knowing how they brutally killed my daughter, I have no mercy for them.
