New Delhi: The government of Aam Aadmi Party under the leadership of CM Arvind Kejriwal had cleared the final draft of Jan Lokpal bill on Monday which will now presented to the Delhi State Assembly for its perusal.
The tenure of the Lokpal will be seven years. All public servants right from the chief minister to all Group D employees had been covered by the bill. No safeguards have been built-in for the CMO for bringing it under the Lokpal’s purview. The bill provides for time-bound investigation and trial of corruption cases. It also ensures legal right of protection for whistleblowers and witnesses.
The selection panel for the appointment of Lokpal chairperson and members will be transparent and free of political control. The seven-member panel will have only one government nominee – the CM.
