Mumbai: Born on February 20, 1956 in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh, Annu Kapoor wanted to become a surgeon but couldn’t fulfill his dream due to financial problems. Little did he know that destiny had something else in store for him?
Annu shot to fame and became a household name as a popular television host with Zee TV’s longest running musical show Antakshari.
In a career spanning over 30 years, Annu has done distinctive work as an actor too. In films like Mandi, Utsav, Arjun, Mr India, Ghayal, Gardish, Raincoat and Saat Khoon Maaf, he has shown his unquestionable acting prowess.
The 57-year-old actor was seen as a lecherous police inspector who falls in love with Priyanka Chopra’s character in Vishal Bhardwaj’s Saat Khoon Maaf.
He went on to a play a corrupt cop in the Akshaye Khanna starrer Gali Gali Chor Hain. His obsessive and compulsive role as a quirky doctor in Vicky Donor won him lots of appreciation and also the coveted Filmfare award for the Best Actor in a Supporting Role.
Presently, the actor-singer is being appreciated for his new music based show The Golden Era with Annu Kapoor, where he shares some interesting unheard memories of yesteryear Bollywood stars.
The versatile actor will tickle our funny bone once again in Yamla Pagla Deewana 2 which will release this year. We wish the energetic actor a great birthday and an eventful 2013!
