MLAs go shirtless in Uttar Pradesh assemblyLucknow: UP assembly session began today on a stormy note, with BSP and RLD members raising anti- government slogans and holding protests during governor’s address to the joint session.

As soon as the proceedings of the joint house began at 11am, the BSP members climbed on their benches displaying banner and placards, and raised issues from law and order to farmer’s plight, besides demanding dismissal of the government.

Two RLD members took out their ‘kurtas’ in protest against the SP government, which they termed as ‘anti-farmers. The MLAs Veer Pal and Sudesh Sharma were demanding payment of cane dues and trying to highlight the plight of cane farmers.

The address by Governor BL Joshi could not be heard amid the din and lasted for barely three to four minutes after which he left.  Later, the house was adjourned till 12.30pm.

As announced, BJP members boycotted joint address by the governor, stating it was an account of the activities and achievements of the government and the present regime has completely failed on all fronts.
