New Delhi: The Central Bureau of Investigation has registered separate cases against a private company and the promoter of another firm besides unknown public servants in connection with the coal block allocation scam.
Searches are being carried out at six places in Nagpur, Mumbai, Jangir and Bilaspur at the official and residential premises of the accused persons and firms. While the first case has been registered against the Nagpur-based Central Collieries Co. Limited, the other pertains to the promoter of Prakash Industries in the Capital.
According to the CBI spokesperson, the case against Central Collieries and unknown public servants is that of forgery, criminal breach of trust and sale of coal in the open market as against the policy of captive allocation of coal blocks for a specified end-use product.
In the case of Prakash Industries, the company has been accused of making false representation of net worth in order to meet the criteria for allocation of coal blocks, while submitting the application.
The agency would also probe into the lapse in cross-checking the submissions made by the company.
