New Delhi: Bharatiya Janata Party had announced its candidate from the native seat of Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi. Smriti Irani has to contest from Amethi constituency from where Kumar Vishwas of Aam Aadmi Party had challenged Rahul Gandhi.
Notify that Smriti Irani had also challenged a tough opponent in 2004. She had contested against Kapil Sibal from Chandni Chowk constituency. She lost the election by approx 80,000 votes that time.
Smriti Irani was appointed the president of Mahila Morcha, the BJP’s women’s wing in 2010. She was elected to the Rajya Sabha from Gujarat a little over a year ago.
After the announcement of her name from Amethi, this contest had become more interesting as Kumar Vishwas of AAP had challenged Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi and now Smriti Irani of BJP had presented a challenge to congress and AAP and make it a triangular fight.
