AAP's chief Kejriwal sent to 14-day judicial custody in defamation case New Delhi: AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal today was sent to 14-days judicial custody in the defamation case filed by senior Bharatiya Janata Party leader Nitin Gadkari. Kejriwal was arrested on Wednesday and sent to Tihar Jail till today after he refused to furnish bail bond of Rs 10,000 in a criminal defamation complaint filed against him by Gadkari.
The AAP had on Thursday announced that it would approach a higher court against the magistrate’s decision to send Kejriwal to judicial custody in a defamation case.

AAP leaders and Kejriwal’s wife Sunita met the former Delhi chief minister in prison yesterday. A court had on today sent him to judicial custody for two days after he refused to furnish a bail bond of Rs 10,000 in a defamation case filed by BJP leader Nitin Gadkari, whom Kejriwal called “corrupt”.

party leader Gopal Rai said, We will wait till Friday as whether the court allow him bail, then will decide our future strategy. We will call our volunteers’ meet and decide and the party will go to the people of Delhi and tell them about the corrupt deeds of Gadkari.

Talking to reporters, another AAP leader, Prashant Bhushan, had said: “The bail bond is required only when the court feels that an accused can flee. Did the court feel that Kejriwal will run away?”
