First Parliament session to be held from June 4 to June 11The 16th Lok Sabha will convene from June 4 to 11, parliamentary affairs minister M Venkaiah Naidu told reporters on Thursday after a cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The session could be extended by a day if an urgent matter came up, he said.

Naidu said, Members of Parliament will take oath on June 4 and 5. The new Speaker will be elected on June 6. A joint address of the President will take place on June 9.

The chamber would reconvene later for finance minister Arun Jaitley to present his first budget.

Speaking on the discussions held during Thursday’s cabinet meet, Naidu said. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has asked ministers to focus on governance, delivery and implementation and resolve all pending issues urgently.

Naidu said the PM wanted all ministers to have their own timetable on the priorities in each ministry for the first 100 days. PM has said all states should be taken along by the Centre… Education, health, water, energy and roads will be priority for the government, the parliamentary affairs minister added.
