New Delhi: A day after taking oath as the 15th prime minister of the country on Monday, Narendra Modi took charge of his office today morning. India’s new Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s will have a busy schedule on his first day in office as he will be meeting SAARC leaders in the capital on Tuesday.
Modi met Afghanistan President Hamid Karzai and President of Maldives, Abdullah Yameen at Hyderabad House respectively at 9:40am and 10:13 am.
The Prime Minister later met President of Sri Lanka, Mahinda Rajapakse at 10:30 am and will be meeting Prime Minister of Bhutan, Tshering Togbey at 10:55 am.
Modi will meet PM of Marutius , Naveen Chandra Ramgoolam at 11:20 am and later he will engage with PM of Nepal, Sushil Koirala at 11:45 pm at the Hyderabad House.
However, the most important engagement of the new PM will be his awaited meeting the Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif that will take place around 12:10 pm.
After that, he will meet the Speaker of the Bangladesh Parliament, Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury, at 12:45 pm at the same venue.
Narendra Modi’s first meeting at the Hyderabad House was with Afghanistan President Hamid Karzai. He has also met Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa. New Foreign Minister Sushma Swaraj is with the Prime Minister for these interactions.
In a series of tweets, Mr Modi shared, “Earlier in the evening in my conversation with Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif he shared some very emotional things…Nawaz Sharif ji said me that he stays in Islamabad but goes to meet his Mother once in a week.
This time when he was eating with his Mother he saw visuals on TV of my Mother offering me sweets…The visuals touched both Nawaz Sharif ji & his Mother. He said me that after seeing the visuals his Mother got very emotional.
PM NARENDRA Modi’s mother Hiraben, 95, watched the oath ceremony live on TV at her home in Gandhinagar.
