Firozabad: Robbers shot down two on duty policemen in Firozabad district of Uttar Pradesh. The constables were chasing six suspected robbers when they were shot. The suspects have not been tracked down yet.
One officer died immediately while the other died in hospital in Agra. Dinesh Pratap Singh and Giriraj Kishore Gujjar, the killed policemen, were both in their early 30s.
Inspector General SK Gupta said in a statement that, “three teams have been deployed for a strict investigation, which will be supervised by area officer and the guilty will be nabbed at the earliest.”
He further added that due to lack in diligence, a sub-inspector from Thana Ramgarh has been suspended but the post mortem report is yet to come, so the further investigation will be done after it comes.
This incident shows the incompetence and total breakdown of law and order. Notify that in recent weeks, a series of brutal crimes- many of them against women have left the UP government defenseless against allegations of failure of government.
More than two weeks ago, two teen girls were found hanging from a tree and medical reports showed they had been lynched and gang-raped. The girls were cousins; their families alleged that the police had refused at first to help them because they are from a lower caste.
Last week, a woman said she was gang-raped at a police station in Hamirpur district of Uttar Pradesh.
The leaders of BJP in Uttar Pradesh have expressed their grave concern over a series of attacks on local leaders from their party. Three BJP representatives have been killed in the last few days.
