New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Friday had acquits all the 11 accused of 1993 Surat bomb blast case. These 11 accused were convicted for January-February 1993 blasts in Surat district of Gujarat. In these blasts, 1 woman was killed while several people were injured.
A bomb exploded near Sadhna School in Mini bazaar in Varachha area of Surat on January 21, 1993. A female student Alpa Patel was killed in the blast and 11 others injured.
The very next day another blast took place at Surat railway station platform number 1 targeting the Gujarat Express train in which 38 passengers were injured.
A bench of two Judge TS Thakur and C Nagappam had acquitted the 11 accused and reversed the TADA court verdict which had sentenced them to jail from 10-20 years.
