6 hostels for working women suggested in Delhi BudgetNew Delhi: Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley had presented the Budget for Delhi on Friday under which he highly pitched for the security of women in National capital and assistance for senior citizens.

Government had proposed six hostels for working women to ensure their safety in Delhi while earning their livelihood. Notify that there are only two Delhi government’s hostels out of which one is in Rohini and other is in Vishvas Nagar. He also said that these six hostels will be constructed under Public Private Partnership (PPP) mode.

He also proposed for the increase of monthly aid to senior citizens between the age of 60-69 years to Rs. 1000, Rs. 1500 for 70 and above. The government has extended the pension facility to 4.30 lakh people against 3.9 lakh people previously.

The government has also promised financial support to two children each of incarcerated parents till they turn 18 or until such time as when the parents are released.

Government has promised three more homes for mentally challenged inmates to take care of the mentally challenged.

Finance Minister said the process of recruitment of 155 women sub-inspectors and 1,434 women constables is on and these women personnel are expected to join Delhi Police in 2014-15 to ensure safety of women safety in Delhi.

The Union Minister also said in the current year, 8,124 girls have been imparted self-defence training and 4,925 police personnel have attended gender sensitization programme.
