Moradabad: District administration of Moradabad had imposed Section 144 on Friday as Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) had proposed the ‘Jalabhishek March”, and the protest of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the ‘peace march’ of Congress on Saturday in Kanth area of Moradabad.
To manage the law and order situation in district, security had also been tightened in the districts adjoining Moradabad.
The trouble had been increased in Moradabad after police forcefully taken down the loudspeaker from the temple in Muslim dominated Akbarpur village.
The Jatavs protested the move and and alleged discrimination. They also claimed that the temple had a loudspeaker for the last 15 years and they only got a new one installed as replacement in June.
The VHP has demanded re-installation of loudspeakers and wants to hold to perform puja at the temple.
With the local MP being from the BJP, the party took up the issue leading to clashes between party workers and the police on July 4 over holding of a mahapanchayat called by the party to protest removal of a loudspeaker from a temple.
