Jaipur: 15 MLAs of BJP were forced to pay Rs 500 each from their pockets for coming late for their legislature party meeting ahead of the Budget session of Rajasthan Assembly in Jaipur on Friday.
Ladpura (Kita) MLA Bhawani Singh Rajawat said, “Around 15 MLAs had to pay fines of Rs500 each for reaching late for the meeting.”
He also said, “It is ok…, the fines will ensure that everyone is punctual.”
Rajawat said, “It is a good initiative by Vasundharaji. The legislators, who are known to be latecomers, will learn the importance of time.”
Notify that Rajasthan CM Vasundhara Raje has asked the BJP MLAs to reach the Assembly on time and warned of action against those failing to do so.
Many felt it was a casual remark from the Raje. They were in for a surprise when they were asked to part with the money as fines after reaching more than five minutes late.
Sources said that among those paying the fine for reaching late for the meeting were Bhawani Singh Rajawat, Kunjilal (Bamanwas MLA), Dr Rampratap (Hanumangarh MLA), Chandrakanta Meghwal (Ramganj Mandi MLA), Shatrughna Gautam (Kekri MLA), Ghanshyam Tiwari (Sanganer MLA) and Surendra Singh Rathore (Kumbhalgarh MLA).
One of the latecomers was so enthused by the new practice that he paid a fine of Rs1,000 and pledged not to be late again, said sources.
