New Delhi: Citing the Right to information replied from Delhi Police, a report said that 18 children go missing in the national Capital everyday on an average and 14 are traced. The report had been found by Alliance for People’s Rights. The report states that a total of 6,494 children in which 53 % of them girls, disappeared in Delhi from January 1 to December 31, 2013.
This report claimed that the cases of missing children had increased from 2012 to 2013. Facts claimed that the average missing of children in 2012 was 14 which had increased in 2013.
In some districts the number has shot up, with a 54.82 % jump in cases reported in West and a 47.24 % increase in North-West districts.
The average number of missing of children had decrease in only North-East and New Delhi district in 2013.
Report also stated that “more than 50 % of rescued victims are from the socially deprived sections of society”.
Alliance’s convenor Reena banerjee said, “This is just the data we could get from the police through RTI, but there are many cases that never get registered. So the actual number of missing children may be higher.”
Banerjee said, “If we can have bullet trains in the country, we can surely keep our children safe.”
The regional director of Child Right and You Soha Moitra said that a single and transparent database should be kept. She said, “Children’s commissions should be proactive.”
Notify that the guardian of missing children blames to the authorities as they are not concern toward the missing incident due to which these type of incident are increasing in Delhi.
