Maoists derails train engine by blowing up rail track in BiharPatna: The engine of the Bhubaneshwar-New Delhi Rajdhani Express had been derailed by Maoists after they blown up the railway track in Bihar during their shutdown on Wednesday.

Police said that Maoists had blasted a railway track and a mobile tower in last 24 hours in Bihar during shutdown. They are protesting against the killing of two people in police firing in Aurangabad district.

P.K. Shrivastava, Deputy Inspector General of Police, Magadh range, said that Maoists blew up the railway track between Ismailpur and Rafiganj section late Tuesday night and blasted a mobile tower in Aurangabad early Wednesday.

He said, “It was an attempt to create terror and panic by Maoists.”

The chief public relations officer of East Central Railways, Arvind Kumar Rajak said that the major accident was averted as the pilot engine run ahead of the Bhubaneshwar-New Delhi Rajdhani Express was derailed after the blast on track.

Rajak said, “No casualty was reported but the incident disrupted railway traffic. Nearly a dozen trains including three Rajdhani Express trains have been stranded at various places between Gaya and Mughalsarai.”
