Mumbai: Congress leader Narayan Rane had tender his resignation from the cabinet to the Chief Minister of Maharashtra Prithviraj Chavan on Monday. He was Industries Minister in cabinet and was sulk due to which he had announced a week before for the resignation. He had quit as a minister but will remain in the party.
Notify that Rane had quit Shiv Sena in 2005 to join Congress. He had been criticized by Congress several times due to his style of functioning.
The matter turned for the worse after his son Nilesh lost from Ratnagiri- Sindhudurg Lok Sabha seat to Shiv Sena. Rane feels that the ally party of Congress, Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) conspired to ensure his son’s defeat.
He had tendered his resignation from the Cabinet on the day results were declared but Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan turned it down.
