New Delhi: Minister of state for Planning Rao Inderjit Singh said that there is no plan of government to scrap the Planning Commission on Thursday and putted to rest over the uncertainty over the existence of the Planning Commission.
Rao inderjit Singh had stated it in the Rajya Sabha means the BJP-led government, which has often criticised the commission, may now consider re-defining its roles and responsibilities.
Earlier this week, the minister in a Facebook post said there was a need for streamlining the role of the commission so that it should not be seen as a hindrance by states.
Notify that the new government had not revised and reconstituted the commission even after one-and-a-half months of being in office. Instead, it has elevated the role of the planning ministry, giving minister Singh independent charge.
