New Delhi : The central government today appointed new governors for four states, namely Rajasthan, Karnataka, Goa and Maharashtra.
A Rashtrapati Bhavan communique said they were Kalyan Singh (Rajasthan), Vajubhai Rudabhai Vala (Karnataka), C. Vidyasagar Rao (Maharashtra) and Mridula Sinha (Goa).
Within three months of the new government, as many as six governors appointed by the previous UPA government have resigned from their posts.
While some did it due to alleged pressure from the Home Ministry, others stepped down as they were transferred against their will.
