New Delhi: The Supreme Court had nodded to hear a plea against judicial appointment Bill on Thursday and its enabling law seeking to create a national judicial appointments commission (NJAC) for the selection of judges to the apex court and high courts.

The petitioner RK Kapoor, a lawyer had approached to the apex court to the bench of three-judge of chief justice of India R.M. Lodha and justices Kurian Joseph and Rohinton Nariman. The Bench asked the petitioner to approach the apex court registry to tag the case with another similar one on 25 August.
The petition alleges the amendment Bill violates the basic structure of the Constitution as it affects the independence of the judiciary and the principle of separation of powers of the judiciary and the executive.
It had been proposed in proposal that the NJAC is to be a six-member body headed by the chief justice of India (CJI), and composed of two judges from the apex court, the law minister, and two eminent persons chosen by the CJI, the prime minister and the leader of the opposition or the leader of the largest party in the Lok Sabha.
