New Delhi: Vigilante groups will be formed in all major campuses by Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) to escape ‘love jihad’ in campuses. ABVP had decided to make groups who will “keep a watch on Muslim youths who try to lure Hindu women to pursue their agenda of love jihad.”
This announcement had been made at the end of the two-day national meeting, titled “Girls — India’s Real Leaders” which was held by the students’ wing of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh.
A “general awareness” campaign will also run by ABVP campaign on women’s safety, female foeticide and other issues. In addition, groups of women volunteers would be formed in all major varsity campuses to “sensitise” Hindu women to the dangers of “social evils” such as “love jihad, live-in relationships, Valentine’s Day and pub culture” which had a “negative impact” on India’s cultural and social ethos.
Geeta Tai Gunde, coordinator of RSS women wing said, “Love is a natural feeling and there is no religion involved in it. But what are dangerously taking shape are concerted efforts to lure Hindu girls by cheating and hiding identity. A dangerous trend is also growing where Muslim boys stand outside schools to lure Hindu girls. ‘Love jihad’ is a social menace and it needs to be dealt with socially… Hindu girls need to come out openly against it to save other girls from falling into the trap [of forced] conversion to Islam. We will mobilise students and ask our cadres to sensitise girl students against such problems that currently ail our society.”
