New Delhi: Four men beaten up and stabbed a 14-year-old boy to death on Wednesday night in north-west Delhi for not getting them a pack of cigarettes. They were playing cards in the park when incident happens. Police said that the accused had been fled after incident and are absconding.
The incident was reported from the park beside the JJ cluster in Wazirpur colony around 8pm. The boy, Ranjan, was returning from tuition classes with his friends when one of the men called out to him and asked him to get a pack of cigarettes. When Ranjan refused saying that the cigarette dealer would not give him a pack since he was a minor, the men started abusing him. Locals said that all of them were drunk.
Police said that the men then caught hold of Ranjan and brutally thrashed him. His friend tried to save him but was chased away.
Ranjan managed to free himself and tried to run away, but one of them stabbed him with a broken bottle on the back of his thigh. He fell bleeding after which the men led the spot
Friends of Ranjan had informed locals and his family members for help, who later found Ranjan lying in a pool of blood. He was rushed to a local hospital where he died during treatment due to excessive bleeding.
Locals, meanwhile, informed the PCR who reached along with a team from Bharat Nagar police station. Locals alleged that the men, all of whom were unemployed and involved in petty crimes, used to sit in the park for playing cards and drinking every evening.
Bharat Nagar police had registered a case of murder and police said that raids are being conducted to nab the accused.
