Fire in Kolkata high-rise, Four People RescuedKolkata:  Fire today broke out at the 16th floor of Chatterjee International building in Kolkata, one of the tallest buildings in the city.4 people who were trapped in the upper floors have been rescued and sent to the SSKM Hospital where they are being treated for breathing problems due to smoke inhalation.

The fire raged for 3 hours before it was brought under control. 14 fire tenders and 4 skylifts were deployed at the site. State Fire Services Minister Javed Khan said, I went and checked the 15th and 16th floors. The fire has been doused, and the situation is under control. The cause of the fire is yet to be known.

The fire broke out around 8:30am in the 15th floor of the iconic building which houses mostly offices and commercial establishments. The Chatterjee International Centre is one of the oldest high rises of Kolkata, which was completed in 1976. The nearly 300 feet high building has 24 floors.  There are no reports of any casualties so far. The cause of fire or extent of damage was yet to be ascertained, police said.
