Navy official said that Sri Lanka Navy personnel had arrested six Indian fishermen who were poaching in Sri Lankan waters on Monday night.
Navy Spokesman Commander Kosala Warnakulasuriya said that the Indian fishermen and a trawler were taken into custody off the North-Western coast of Talaimannar.
He also said that the fishermen had violated the International Maritime Boundary Line (IMBL) and were using illegal methods to catch fish such as bottom-trawling.
The Navy said the fishermen together with their trawler would be handed over to the fisheries authorities in Talaimannar for legal action.
