Beijing: Four primary schoolchildren were killed in a knife attack by a man in south China’s Guangxi autonomous region, the latest such incident in the country in recent years, state-run Xinhua news agency reported.
The attack took place in the town of Pingshan in Lingshan County as the students were on their way to school, the report added, citing the county public security bureau.
Three children died on the spot and another died later at a nearby hospital. Police have launched a manhunt for the suspect, the report said. China has recently been witnessing a spate of knife attacks carried out by disgruntled people with various social grievances.
Such copycat attacks were carried out across China specially targeting primary schools and bystanders at malls and on streets.
