Hyderabad: An 11-year-old boy had been died of burn injuries after he had been set on fire in high military secured area of Mehdipatnam of Hyderabad. The boy had been identified as Sheikh Mustafa who resides in Siddique Nagar and was admitted to a private hospital on Wednesday.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (west Zone) V Satyanarayana said that the boy had been died at 8:15 AM on Thursday.
Parent of boy however alleged that some army personnel were involved in the incident. Meanwhile Army had denied with such charges and said that investigation had found that no Army personnel is involved in the incident.
DCP Satyanarayana said that case of murder had been registered against unknown persons.
Earlier on Wednesday DCP said, “The spot where Mustafa was found with burns was military area. A cool drink bottle with kerosene, some match boxes and a pair of footwear were found in the vicinity.”
The DCP maintained that Mustafa told the OGH Resident Medical Officer that some military personnel set him ablaze. “The boy’s statement was recorded by a magistrate and we too are taking his statement to ascertain the facts,” he said.
In its statement, Army said, “On investigation, it is found that no Army personnel is involved in this incident. The Army condemns this act. All necessary assistance is being provided to the police authorities to carry out a detailed investigation to arrive at the truth.”
