Mumbai: The rupee gained 13 paise to 60.97 against the dollar in early trade on Tuesday at the Interbank Foreign Exchange market on increased selling of the U.S. currency amid a higher opening in the domestic equity market.
Dollar’s weakness against other currencies overseas also supported the rupee, Forex dealers said. On Monday, the rupee rose by 25 paise to end at 61.10 against the greenback on fresh selling of dollars by exporters and banks, in line with other Asian currencies helped by upbeat trade data from china. Meanwhile, the benchmark BSE Sensex rose 123.18 points, or 0.47 per cent, to 26,507.25 in early trade today.
