Is it price Tharoor pay for praising PM Modi? Congress sacked him as spokesperson

New Delhi: Former Union Minister and Congress MP Shashi Tharoor had been sacked as Congress spokesperson on Monday by party high command.

Notify that Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) had demanded action against Shashi Tharoor for praising Prime Minister Narendra Modi and accept the invitation of PM Modi to participate in ‘Swachh Bharat’ campaign.

KPCC president V M Sudheeran said praises lavished on Modi repeatedly by Tharoor had hurt Congress and UDF workers who worked sincerely and tirelessly for his victory in the Thiruvananthapuram Lok Sabha constituency for a second time.

The matter was taken up by the three-member disciplinary action committee of AICC, comprising leaders Motilal Vora, A K Antony and Sushilkumar Shinde before the Congress president Sonia Gandhi decided to remove Tharoor from the post.

Notify that Congress general secretary Digvijay Singh had also supported Tharoor and said that he saw “nothing wrong” in the Kerala Tharoor’s actions.

Digvijay Singh tweeted, “I see nothing wrong in Shashi Tharoor accepting to be Brand Ambassador for Swachhta Abhiyan. It is Congress Party programme adopted by Modi.”
