New Delhi: Preparations are in full swing to celebrate the Karwa Chauth festival today. Karwa Chauth, the biggest festival for married women in India, will be observed on October 11, 2014 (Saturday).
The rise of moon holds key significance on Karwa Chauth or Karva Chauth. On this day married women observe long day fast without water and food to express their love and committment towards their husbands.
After observing fast, women offer paryer in the evening and break the fast after sighting moon. The Puja Muhurat of Karwa Chauth 2014 starts from 5:52 p.m. to 7:07 p.m. According to the the sources, moon rise time on Karwa Chauth 2014 is expected around 8:19 p.m.
However, sky will be partilly cloudy due to severe cyclone heading towards Andhra Pradesh and Odisha. It may delay the moon rise in many parts, specially in Kolkata, Odisha, Bihar, Jharkhand, Andhra Pradesh and some parts of Uttar Pradesh.
