Thiruvananthapuram: The Kerala Bar Owners Association has accused the Finance Minister of Kerala KM Mani for demanding a bribe of Rs 5 crore for renewing the licenses of closed bars.
The association claimed that they had paid Rs 1 crore to him under the pressure. The revelation was made by bar owners’ association representative Biju Ramesh on regional news channel on Friday night.
The Opposition had demanded for probe after the allegations put on the state government’s Finance Minister.
The Kerala Congress leader meanwhile refuted the allegations but is willing to face probe.
Ramesh said that he would approach the court if investigation was not launched against Mani.
Notify that the High Court division bench had on Friday stayed the court’s single bench order permitting bars only in four star and heritage hotels in the state to serve liquor and give relief to bar owners. All 250 hotel bars will be allowed to function for a period of one month.
