New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi had believed that Opposition parties will play a key role in winter session of Parliament. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is hopeful of a productive, fruitful session as NDA government is aiming to introduce and take up 37 bills in this session, including foreign direct investment hike in insurance.
PM Modi exuded confidence that in this winter season, “I hope that we will be able to conduct business with a calm mind.”
Over the opposition party PM Modi said, “I am sure that the opposition will play a positive role and we will work together like we did in the Budget Session in the past.”
He also highlighted the importance of being a Member of Parliament and said,””People elected us to run the government, but they elected MPs to run the country.”
Meanwhile it has been expected that this winter session will be a stormy one as the West Bengal Chief Minister and Trinamool Congress Chief Mamata Banerjee has already announced that her party will stage a dharna in the House opposing the FDI hike in insurance.
Other opposition parties also closing ranks on the issue are JDU, CPI-M, BSP and SP and have sought Congress support too.
Notify that TMC had also skipped the all-party meetings which had been called by Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan and Parliamentary Affairs Minister M Venkaiah Naidu.
The winter session will be held from November 24 to December 23 and is scheduled to have 22 sittings.
